SPEAK WITH YOUR FEET
Learn how to communicate & connect through salsa
_______________
Growth Goals: Communication // Connection // Awareness
Skills Learned: Introductory Salsa
If you take anything from this experience, we hope it’s this: How you dance is how you live.
When you encounter a new, uncomfortable situation, do you step back or step in? When the world changes around you, do you try to control it, or embrace its shifting rhythms?
Dance is how we relate with ourselves and the world around us. In every second, it pushes us to communicate all we think, hope-for, and want — without ever uttering a word. And through the process, it teaches us how to stand for everything we desire out of life, while still honoring the choices / opinions of others.
In this experience we aim to teach you the Basics of Salsa in a fun, ridiculous, and inspired way. But we also hope to show you that movement can be more. We will explore how your movements can deeply influence your perception of yourself and the world around you. And through this awareness, you’ll learn how to better communicate & connect with every person in your life... using all your senses.

DETAILS
Why this Experience: What makes this Salsa experience special is that it’s not just about the steps. Usually you’ll go to a salsa class, and the focus will be on memorizing an endless series of steps. Period. But we didn’t want to make “just-another-salsa-class.” You see, the focus of this experience is not on memorizing steps, but rather on observing how you dance, and understanding how that translates to the rest of your life. Because in that space, there are no wrong moves... It all teaches us.
The Plan: It’s going to be a crazy fun time, but a fulfilling one too. We’ll spend 2.5 hours doing a ton of salsa dancing (individual & paired), socializing, and reflecting. But we’ll also focus on honing key dance fundamentals we think most people overlook (mastering rhythm, maintaining connection, etc). Because when you get these basics down, you can truly start to enjoy dancing for yourself, and the steps just come.
Requirements: None! All experience levels are welcome!
FAQ: You DO NOT need to bring a dance partner. If you want to invite a partner, then you’re more than welcome! However this is not required. Feel free to come as you are.

GALIYA ISKAKOVA
MY PURPOSE:
To positively transform people’s lives and relationships through dance.
WHY I DO THIS:
I dance because it frees my soul and mind. I feel connected to myself and to music, like we are one.
However I do this specific work because there is no greater feeling than to witness a person transform, find joy, shift perspective, and step into their greatness… and deeply know that I am a part of that — that I created the opportunity for that to happen.
ABOUT GALIYA:
A local Miami-an (and native of Kazakhstan!), Galiya has been teaching dance for many years, specializing in all forms from salsa, to bachata, to hip hop. She also co-leads the local dance organization, WeDanceMiami.
However, leading this experience represents something much greater for her: It’s her life mission. Galiya aims to be driving force to help people better understand themselves and the people they love, through dance. She aims to help people improve their relationships — with themselves, their situations, and the people they care for — through first recognizing their own relationship with movement. Because for her, dance is more than just steps... It’s a lens for life.
“How we show up on the dance floor, is how we show up in our lives” she daily affirms. “How we do one thing is how we do everything.”
