MY PURPOSE:

To be a guiding light, to help people connect to their thoughts and feelings. To show them how changing their perceptions can change their life.

WHY I DO THIS:

Painting chose me. It’s the one place I feel I really belong — my safe zone. It’s helped me conquer my fears, see with new eyes, and understand differently. It’s changed my perspective so that I no longer ask, “why did they do that?” but rather, “why did that make me feel this way?”

MY STORY:

Married at the age of 16, for a long time Nedaa Salameh felt like she didn’t have a voice. She was immediately thrust into raising a family and never had time to find herself. But pouring paint has taught her more about herself than anything she’s ever done.

“The process of stepping back, standing still, and gazing from within has really helped me to see clearly” she says. “It’s taught me how to conquer my fears and take responsibility for my life…. But more than anything, it’s taught me how to hear my own voice.”

Through the silence of “pouring paint,” Nedaa’s realized that not only does she have a voice, but that it’s actually worth listening to. She’s discovered how to tap into her intuitions, instincts and desires, and actually embrace — rather than suppress — them. And in finally letting herself to accept herself as she is, she’s learning how to embrace others... as they are.

You have to kind of stop and let things happen. Because if you don’t — if you keep adjusting, picking at, or fixing something — you never get to stop and enjoy it… What’s the point of that?

This type of painting is all about changing your perception. Because when you change your perception, you kill off the “old you” with your old way of thinking, and create a “new you.”
